Lindsay Bennett is a current celebrity trainer in Nashville and was selected as one of the World’s Top 10 Trainers of 2019. Her successful fitness approach doesn’t just come from years of experience as a trainer, but her own personal experience in the world of fitness. As a collegiate Track & Field athlete, she trained with multiple Olympians and a Hall of Fame Coach. Formerly known as the Fastest Girl in Texas, she now combines her experience of elite sport exercise with her knowledge of a scientific-based approach in order to help clients create healthy habits and reveal confidence, inside and outside the gym.  She was even chosen by Nike to contribute to and be featured in their well-known Nike Training Club app. She can be found in media publications such as PopSugar Fitness, Yahoo, LiveStrong.com, FabFitFun, and Vital Proteins.

My top five wellness tips

1. Keep it simple!
You don’t have to overwhelm yourself with all the rules of every latest trend! Find what works for you and then stick to it! It’s all about small steps adding up to big progress!

2. Start small
Set one small goal for yourself then tackle it! It may be “workout for 20 minutes every day” or “drink 75 ounces of water each day” or maybe “cook dinner at home each weeknight.” Whatever it is, start with one small goal then work towards reaching that goal every day! It will soon become a habit, the habit becomes a lifestyle!

3. Make it about you!
Find something you enjoy doing, then keep it up! If you absolutely hate running, then don’t start out by running! If you enjoy outdoor walks around the park, then set a goal to take a 20-30 minute walk every day. Maybe you enjoy exploring new places, so try checking out new trails, parks, or points of interest … the Tennessee State Capitol is a great place to get in an outdoor workout!

4. De-Stress!
Your health and wellness shouldn’t be stressful! Find things that will do the opposite of stress you out! Keep a positive mindset! Try making a gratitude list first thing in the morning. Perhaps a walk outside after you workday or on a lunch break! Maybe even finding a friend who will commit to 3 days a week of being active as well! Keep each other accountable!

5. Keep it Real!
Focus on nourishing your body with as many “real” foods as possible! Include lots of fresh vegetables, leafy greens, fruits, and proteins! The simplest way to nourish your body by “keeping it real” is to ask yourself, “What is the source of this food?” Prioritize the food that comes from nature! By doing this you are providing your body with essential nutrients to keep it functioning at it’s best!
