Beginning at an early age, Jennifer Clinger experienced years of abuse, addiction, exploitation and trauma. Trafficking eventually led her from her birthplace in Ohio, to truck stops across the country, and finally to the streets of Nashville, Tennessee. Today Clinger is adding a new title to her resume: Author.
Jennifer Clinger’s memoir, “Delivered: The Fragmented Memories of a Former Streetwalker,” shares her abuse in the world of sex trafficking, to the healing she found in the community of Nashville, as well as through Thistle Farms, a community for women survivors of prostitution, trafficking and addiction.
“The process of writing this was surprising,” says Clinger. “I wrote ‘Delivered’ so people could see the homeless-streetwalker with different eyes. While writing I realized I saw myself the way others did, and I needed to see the woman, or man, on the street with new eyes. Today, I see myself in a new and beautiful light.”
Billed as, “A Special Evening of Stories and Song,” the evening will include the author reading excerpts from her book, as well as a musical performance from Nashville-based alternative folk-pop duo, The Bittersweets. The acclaimed Americana recording artists will perform original music from three studio albums.
The event will take place at Hutton Hotel’s ANALOG venue (1808 West End Ave, Nashville, TN 37203) on January 24, 2019, 7:30 pm; doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and can be purchased at https://bit.ly/2zXPVfG. “Delivered” will be available for purchase at the event.
Ticket proceeds from the event will benefit Thistle Farms.
