Whether you view New Year’s Eve as your new beginning, or you’re like me and look more towards your birthday as your new year, it is very important to move into 2020 with clarity – no pun intended! Understanding both who you are being and who you are choosing to become, is an incredibly powerful way to greet this next calendar year. It is also the first step in living with intention, or to put it another way, being mindful of what you are creating.
Taking stock of what you have or haven’t accomplished so far, is part of obtaining this level of clarity and this can be a tough thing to do. Why? Because it is often the unfinished bits we focus on and use as ways to put ourselves down that overshadow our success stories. One of the first steps to gaining clarity might be to consider that where-ever you are, it’s ok. Love, forgive and accept yourself exactly as you are, and realize that if you can do that, you can move forward and perhaps gain some important perspective that will move you in the direction you want to go. To beat yourself up will only serve to hold you back in ways too numerous to mention.
Next important step which is an extension of the first, is forgiveness. I just suggested you love, forgive and accept yourself, now I’m suggesting you forgive whatever else may feel or seem unresolved. Why? Because forgiveness is truly about you putting down the burden that comes with holding on to angst, pain, blame and/or guilt. Forgiveness does not excuse bad behavior and does not mean you give someone permission to walk all over you, rather it can give you great clarity on boundaries and also letting go of that which does not serve you.
Finally, permit yourself to dream. I happened to speak with several people today who didn’t even know what their dreams were and if you don’t know what your dreams are, you can be sure you’ll never have them. To be mindful in your life is to live an inspired life, on purpose, profitable and fun! That’s right, I said fun. Why do we believe that when we grow up, we have to stop playing? Not true and permitting yourself to dream, and dream big if you dare, is one of the best games you will ever play.
When you are mindful, or intentional, about who you are and who you choose to become, and you allow yourself to get in touch with your dreams, clarity becomes somewhat effortless. Wouldn’t it be nice for this next year to be inspired so you can play full out? I say yes – how about you? Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, and a very blessed New Year Everyone, may your perfect vision be realized in 2020.
