Tennessee Tree Day is America’s largest single-day tree planting event and is taking place on Saturday, March 21, 2020. The initiative encourages Tennesse residents to plant native trees across the state.
As the organizers explain, “You and thousands of other Tennessee residents will collectively pick up and plant more than 100,000 native tree seedlings in all 95 Tennessee counties. Any seedlings ordered for Tree Day are yours to plant on your own property and will enhance our environment and communities for generations to come!”
Tree Day is a project of Tennessee Environmental Council. As a nonprofit organization, the initiative asks for a small donation for each of the seedlings, which are upwards of $2. Tree seedling size will range from 1 ft to 3 ft. Species available varies based on pick-up location. The trees must be reserved and paid for prior to the event.
This initiative is also open to those who live in Tennessee’s neighboring states, if individuals are willing to travel to their nearest Tenneessee pickup location.
