Laura Lea Bryant is a certified holistic chef, with her grass-roots planted firmly here in Nashville. Laura Lea earned her certification from the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City in 2013, a nationally-recognized culinary program that teaches classic chef skills, as well as courses in food and healing. Now she is opening up her Kitchen for a few lucky people to join in her home cooking experience.
Laura Lea fell in love with whole-foods cooking, when she noticed how it dramatically decreased her anxiety symptoms—heart palpitations, agoraphobia and panic attacks. She became smitten with the concept that what we eat can affect every aspect of our life, not just our physical appearance. Upon graduating, she immediately moved back to Nashville, driven to share this message with her home town.
A Laura Lea Balanced Cooking Class is an experience where community, conversation and delicious, healthy food come together. Chef Laura Lea began teaching these classes when she realized that there was an element of connection missing in her business. During the first few years of growth, Laura Lea focused on creating recipes for her blog and sharing on social media, but she knew that the true magic of home-cooked food is the company with whom it is shared. She tentatively began teaching small groups of 4-5 people, but the classes quickly became so popular that she increased the frequency and size to accommodate demand.
During each of these two-hour demonstration-style classes, you will learn how to create nutritious dishes that use accessible ingredients, achievable techniques and which should please every member of your family. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to ask Chef Laura Lea any questions you might have about wellness and home-cooking (so feel free to prepare a few in advance!). With approximately 14 people from all over Nashville and some from other parts of the country, you will likely come away with new friends as well!
Laura Lea offers a range of class themes, such Vegan and Vegetarian Dinners, Make Once, Eat All Week, Healthy Thanksgiving Feast and Healthy Holiday Desserts. She also makes sure to work around any dietary restrictions or preferences that you might have.
The classes take place in Laura Lea’s work/live loft in the up-and-coming Wedgwood Houston neighborhood. Your only job is to show up, relax and enjoy wine (or water!) and appetizers while Laura Lea cooks and chats. At the end of the class, you will enjoy a meal of what she has prepared!
Bonus: Laura Lea leaves containers for take-home leftovers, if there are any.
